The End

Friday was my last day as the principal at Southwest Christian. It sounds strange to say it and even stranger to type it. It has been a fun and eventful seven years at SCS. I have made new friends and tried to screw things up less than I got them right. We were able to accomplish some great things. I feel that SCS is a part of my family and I think it always will be. It was my first place to be a principal. They took a big gamble on me seven years ago. There are some incredibly special people there that I will discuss in future posts. Riley has been blessed by the education he has received at SCS. The faculty and staff loved him and cared for him. I am grateful to so many peple that have loved us. With my hospitals stays and surgeries, the people at SCS have seen me through my darkest days.

It was difficult to sit in my office last Thursday night. I was closing out some things to pass on to my replacement. I walked around the buildings and soaked up the environment one last time. I stayed until 2:00 a.m. and just said goodbye to the place. I will be involved there during the month of July but I switch to being a consultant and to helping the new leadership transition.

What a journey it has been. A new one is on the horizon as I start in Abilene on Monday. More information about that to come as well.

Thank you to the Board, administrators, faculty, staff, parents and most importantly the students of SCS.

    Craig,

There is no doubt that it is hard to leave the places that have formed us in one way or another--I know your staff was sorry to see you go because you were superb.

Abilene is in for some good things! Love, Miss Judy

Please know that you are constantly on my mind and in my prayers. You have shared with me on numerous occasions how much SCS means to you. I pray that you will have those same feelings about ACS. I believe you will because I know that you put so much of yourself into your job and people respond to your honesty, commitment and the way you care about people.

Let me know when you have a tee time at The Max so we can play some golf!

You are the man, SCS was lucky to have you as long as they did. May your new world be as friendly as the one that will miss you.
