My conversation at Wal-mart

This post is similar to one posted by Stephen Bailey a few days ago. Sometimes I just don't get it...

The battery in Beth Ann's car gave out so I went to Wal-mart at 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday to get a replacement.

The following is my conversation with a guy in line:

The other guy: Eye contact and head nod

Me: Head nod

The other guy: "Gotta buy some s*** and always waiting in line"

Me: "Huh?"

The other guy: "Gotta get to San Antonio tonight"

Me: "That's good". I look away hoping the conversation will stop. It doesn't.

The other guy: "I am in a metal band. We play benefits and s***"

Me: "Great", very disinterested

The other guy: "Need to buy some more f****** stage clothes and s***"

Me: "Wonderful"

The other guy: "Man I need to get on the f****** road since I am in a metal band"

Me: I turned my head sideways like a confused puppy and then said, "Well get after it"

Like I said before, sometimes I just don't get it. I am thankful I was by myself and did not have my 3 or 7 year old with me. Are there not other words that could have been said during the small talk? Just like Stephen asked, what do you do here?

I was in Radio Shack last week and the goth kid had rap playing on a CD player. I was cool w/it until the rapper started f'ing this and f'ing that. I found the player and turned it off! Without a good upper cut, you didnt have that option!

I had a experience just yesterday with teens at chilpotle. I just leaned back and said, "hey, we don't need to learn any new words today." It helps if the kids are with you, but then, they have already heard the word.
