An Easter Surprise

In Benbrook, Texas (suburb of Ft. Worth) we awoke to a surprise on Easter morning. After a rainy weekend and rain all during the night prior to Easter, we expected to see a wet and soggy backyard when we opened the blinds on Sunday morning. We got out of bed before the boys to make sure everything was in order for our morning and we looked outside to find snow all over our lawn. Huge snowflakes were falling and covering cars and rooftops. It was a beautiful sight. It was such an unexpected surprise.

As the boys got out of bed we showed them the wonder of the snow on Easter morning. Riley was excited. Owen was just happy to see his family. We all sat and watched the big snowflakes continue to fall for a good portion of the morning.

As we were watching, Beth Ann had a thought about the surprise that we were experiencing. She said that maybe the surprise that we felt was a bit like the surprise that many experienced on a morning when they found the stone of the tomb had been rolled away and that Jesus had risen from the dead.

Not many in the metroplex were able to enjoy this quick snow surprise on the first weekend during spring. People at church did not even believe me when I told them about it. Who would believe actual snow in Texas in late March? Probably not me unless I saw it.

It was a great way to get Sunday into perspective. I love the way God works!

I thought the same thing yesterday morning. He makes us whiter than snow, and what a surprise it is when we truly experience it.

What a great blog! We didn't have snow here--but I love your application! Thanks! JB

Crazy, but we had snow here in Phoenix, Arizona one Easter morning about 4 years ago. Love the tomb surprise analogy. God is good.
