One of those weekends

Last week was an extremely tough week at work. Friday morning came and with anticipation of a long three-day weekend. I was ready to get through the day and then on to some fun and relaxation for the weekend. First came the news that the brakes on one of our cars needed repair. When I have to spend hundreds when I am not prepared it tends to not settle well with me. Next, we realized that Owen was till sick or sick again. Poor guy has been not well for weeks. This weekend his fever spiked back up and his stomach was really bothering him. Owen being sick made us change our plans for the beginning of the weekend to give him time to get better. Next, Beth Ann asked me to look at the washing machine. It was not working properly. I looked at it and tried a couple of things and then did what I do best, called my dad. We checked it out and we are still in the process of trying to fix it. This weekend we were also going to Abilene to see Brandon Scott Thomas and family and worship with Zoe. That did not work out as well. Plans changed as we entered the weekend even though we did not necessarily want them to.

However, we did get to spend some quiet time at home. Riley had the opportunity to not be rushed around from place to place. Owen got some time with his mom and dad holding him and rocking him (for those of you that have not had the pleasure of meeting Owen, him sitting still and wanting to be rocked is not a normal thing in his routine). We were able to take short naps. I was able to finish THE BROKER by John Grisham. I would recommend the book. I was able to work on the computer some and list some items to sell on Ebay. There was some positive low-key time that God wanted us to have before another busy week starts. I am glad He knows what I need better than I do.

I believe today is Danny Sims birthday. Happy Day to you!

I feel for you man. It's difficult to describe that sinking feeling when things start to break down and plans start to unravel. Sick kids, sick cars and sick appliances are no fun. I'm the king of the frustrated handymen. Thanks for reminding me whats really important.
