My Influential People

As Time magazine has published the 25 Most Influential evangelical, it got me to thinking about people that have had an impact on me and my relationship with God. The following is a list of people I am thankful for and that have influenced me:

Beth Ann Fisher: my wife that has stood by me through it all. The best person I know. Words cannot describe.

Jim and Judy Fisher: my parents, they exemplify love and devotion to me and my family that is unmatched. They set a tone for me growing up that kept me focused on God. They made sacrifices so I could experience Christian education.

Gary and Ruthann Souder: my in-laws. Raised great kids. Center their life on God and love to tell people. Love their grandkids. Giving people.

Brandon Scott and Sheryl Thomas: friends/roommate from college. Gifted worshipers of God and they share that gift with many. Will always be special people to me and my family. A ture and forever friend.

C.W. Bradley: my preacher growing up.

Rick Atchley: my preacher now. He is an amazing man that guides RHCC and is gifted in his sharing of the Word.

David Fraser: teaches class at church. Studies the Word like no other. Cares for our class and is a great example to us.

Jim Mankin: Bible professor at ACU. Had unbelievable spirit.

Gary McCaleb: a fine man and great teacher. Raised wonderful children. He played a large role in my ACU experience.

Mitch Moore: friend from ACU. Even though he was a senior, he treated a freshman, like me, as a true friend. He has handled adversity in a Godly way.

Sam and Judy Thomas: parents of Brandon Scott Thomas. Great teachers. The best role model I can think of for me as a principal. Judy has always taken care of me and shared her wisdom.

Jim and Janna Rosier: teachers of young marrieds at Richland Hills for years. Modeled a great marriage relationship.

Max Lucado: author. His books are amazing. Easy to read and helpful in my relationships. Great storyteller.

Lanny Witt: my former boss at SCS. Wonderful man. Made me smile. Stood by and supported me.

Joe Dunson: friend from church that is a student of the Word. He is consistent and a wonderful family man.

Bryan McCaleb: friend from ACU. A prayer warrior. Someone I can always go to when in need.

Rick Warren: his books have lit a fire in America and were influential on me at some needed times.

Scott Barron: my boss at SCS. He has amazing knowledge of scripture. Is extremely devoted to Christian education.

Ann Grassfield: former coworker in Keller ISD. A gifted counselor. A great Christian example to students in a public school setting.

Danny Sims: lead pastor at Altamesa. Loves God and his family. Has a great blog. A friend and a teacher.

Chris Doggett: college roommate from ACU. An awesome family man. A person I respect more than just about anyone in the entire world. Will always be there for me. A wonderful father.

Stephen Bailey: a college roommate at ACU. A friend forever. Loves God and wants to influence those in his ministry. Can make me laugh. Loves his family.

Paul Davis: friend from church. Someone I can trust. Dedicated to his family and is a super dad.

my boys: Riley and Owen. They have such a pure relationship with the Lord. I want to be like them. They are clear in their emotion. They love their mom and dad. They let the "junk" in life roll off their backs. They depend on people to take care of them. I hope, one day, that I can be like them.

I'm so honored to have made the cut. I missed it the first time I looked and actually posted a mean spirited note here... Then I read the list again and wow... there was my name... I felt that tear duct swelling feeling... And suddenly felt so terrible about my ugly note, about being left off when I wasn’t left off at all... I felt very became afraid you would edit me off the list... I deleted it and now I hope you will forgive me...

    We love and appreciate you.

Thank you, Craig! How nice to be on such a distinguished and spiritual list. Sam would have been so proud of you and your work with children. I tear up every time I see Maddie's "Mr. Fisher" shirt. Love, Judy
