You can call me "Grace"

I am getting older. I need some exercise. I need to try to keep my body in shape. One way to try to stay in shape is to play basketball on Sunday afternoons at my school. We play for a couple of hours. It is a great time to sweat and get the heart pumping a bit.

The discovery of "I am not what I used to be", is tough. There seems to be more water breaks needed. I get tired a lot quicker. Through the hard realities I still realize how much fun playing is for me. A little competition, some male bonding and an opportunity to get lucky and hit a 3-pointer make me want to come back the following Sunday. I guess it satisfies some of my "guyness" and gives me a place to try to be "a player".

The soreness that comes on Monday mornings is worth it. It is almost a "good sore". The knees will hurt, the legs will be weak and the ankles will be tender, but there still is that one pass or that one shot that relieves the pain. This week my elbow is killing me. I tripped completely over my own feet and fell hard onto the gym floor. (Laugh now). Then all my body weight hit the inside of my elbow and I knocked out my own breath. (Laugh again). It was extremely graceful, because, yes, I did trip on my own feet.

What truly is amazing as I think through this entire episode is that I was actually able to play full-court basketball. After the medical nightmare we experienced for about a year, I never thought that playing basketball on Sundays again. Praise God for his healing power.

    Fish--
Praise God for His healing power for sure! Maybe I need that surgery so I can play basketball--oh yeah, I never COULD play basketball.
