Hey Bubbas!

I am excited. I have been waiting for over two months. This Sunday starts a new season. It is time to get the ugly t-shirts out and put them on. It is time to hang a numbered flag from on the front of the house. It is time to put a new sticker on the back of the car. Time to celebrate with all the rednecks. It is the season to start talking trash about other competitors. It is NASCAR season! The 2005 races start this Sunday in Daytona. This is the biggest race of the year. Forty-three cars going in excess of 200 miles per hour brings a rush like no other. I have been to Daytona and seen the track and it is a large and impressive facility. I can't wait until Beth Ann and I can get a Winnebago and vacation with 250,000 of our closest friends in the future. I can see us dressed in race clothing (me in a colorful #97 t-shirt with my Mountain Dew Racing jacket on and she will be wearing her racing handkerchief shirt and Daisy Dukes) and hanging out at the track in anticipation of the Superbowl of racing.

I truly am excited about the new racing season. I got hooked on racing a few years ago when I was able to drive a Nascar at the Texas Motor Speedway. Being able to drive 10 laps at 150 mph connected me to enjoying racing and being a big fan. Going to the speedway near our home has become one of my favorite things to do each year. This year we are getting two race in Texas. I couldn't be happier.

Get the banjo out and play a song, pull some of your teeth out, get a Farmer's tan and be obnoxious about your favorite driver and maybe you will enjoy watching the races too. The NASCAR season is here. Let's go racing.

Ah Man! Say it ain't so! Your a Busch fan! Yuk! But he was the champion!

I will be in my predictable #8 Hooping and hollering acting the part. When he can't win, I will pull for the #48 with the ever refined Jimmy Johnson. But you are right "Let's go racing baby".

See my Feb 21 post for what I thought was a good racing analogy!

Right before the end, I just knew Jeff Gordon was going to win because he was in the lead and going very fast...

I watched the last two minutes. That's the extent of my Nascar TV viewing commitment.

I echo your sentiments on the beginning of the season-I love that we have the shortest offseason of any sport!! It was a great race, even though I would've loved to see my boy Jimmie win!! But there is still the whole season...I think it is going to be a good one!

You need to go check out Mike Cope's blog and help defend our sport!! :-)
