The Swarm

Some of you will chuckle at the title of this blog knowing how my life has been lately. Actually, this title is referring to a new experience at work that I had yesterday.

We have two playgrounds at school. The one that the EC-2nd grade uses had some bees on it yesterday morning. I went to check it out and found a big swarm of bees. I called out our pest control man but he did not feel comfortable treating them. My next call was to a bee specialist. The Bee Man came a little while later and began to remove the bees. He said the swarm was about 3,000 bees and that was very small. He normally deals with swarms of 20,000 and above. He got all his gear on and swept the swarm into a box. He made sure that the queen was in the box. The worker bees began to fly all around and he explained they want to get back to protecting the queen. They will fly into this box and surround her again and then he can remove the bees off of our property. It took about half an hour but eventually most flew into the box like he said. It was so neat to watch the Bee Man work and to watch the bees work. I even had some 5th graders out there watching as well.

It made me think maybe we need to be more like bees. Maybe we need to swarm together more with the same objective in mind. What would it be like if we protected God like they protected their queen? What would it be like if we all swarmed to Jesus like they swarmed the queen?

I love the thought of us being "worker bees" working for and protecting our "KIng"

What a great lesson on unity! When we work together for a common cause (Christ) there is no time for fussing and fighting with each other. We have to get back to the King. Great post.

I am sure you shared that with the kids at school! What a great object lesson. Thanks for sharing. Amy Cooper
