A Weekend To Remember

OK, the title of this post sounds like a sappy chick-flick. It is not. This describes our last weekend.

On Friday night we got invited to go to the rodeo at the Fort Worth Stock Show with our friends from college and church, Greg and Hainey. My parents kept the boys so we had a night with minimal responsibility. Ahhh. We had a blast. Watching those cowboys and cowgirls is amazing. They do unbelievable things as they ride, rope, wrestle, spur and get bucked. It was a fun experience and we loved soaking up the Fort Worth rodeo environment. We then decided to go have a late dinner. Joe T. Garcia's was the choice and a fine choice it was. We had their chicken fajitas and they were awesome. They also have the best rice and beans in Fort Worth.

It was a great time with great friends. After watching the rodeo, I did decide that a career change into the rodeo circuit would not be good for me. My back surgery will keep me out. What event in a rodeo would you try?

On Saturday we celebrated our nephew's 18th birthday. We went to Scott and Debbie's house for dinner and cake. Scott and I took Sam and a handful of his friends to Speedzone to continue the celebration. Speedzone rocks. They have a slick track, race track, miniature Indy car track and a top fuel drag strip. We did the slick track a couple of times and did some major paint trading. The other race track had even faster cars. Scott and I did the top fuel dragsters too. What a rush. 0 to 70 mph is just a few seconds.

It was a great time with family and having the old guys hang out (and drive better) with the high school boys.

If you decide to go to Speedzone, call me I will meet you there.

The only thing I would be capable of doing in a rodeo is to be the one who opens the gate for the riders!

Did you see the bull riding? That's what I'd like to see sometime. But I would never try it. I had the chance at ACU in the intramural rodeo. Do they still have that? How does/did insurance allow them to? Glady I said, "No."

We discussed ACU doing the rodeo as we were leaving the other night. I can not believe they allowed it. I don't know if they still do. We had a friend when I was there and had to have major surgery on his head due to an accident.
