Food #3

Today: Ice Cream. Comfort food. Summer fun. Once again, Beth Ann feels ice cream deserves a day of its own.

Craig:
I do love ice cream as well. Probably an all-time favorite is Peanut Butter N' Chocolate from Baskin Robbins. During the summer I love Orange Sherbet from Baskin Robbins too.

As I kid I loved the Pink Bubblegum ice cream. The gum was always really hard but I fought through to enjoy it.

I do like my ice cream to be soft and melting a bit. I do not like to bite into ice cream. I have never been a fan of ice cream cakes because of having to bite into it.

From the grocery store there are some great Blue Bell flavors and Ben and Jerry's. I don't like lots of stuff in the ice cream. If it is "tricked up" too much it becomes too much to deal with in my mouth at one time.

ColdStone Creamery has great ice cream. They just opened by our house and we have found that we love it.

We will have homemade ice cream during the summer a few times. Riley loves to be involved with the ice cream maker and eat it. Beth Ann makes a great orange sherbet!

Beth Ann:
Ice cream...ahhhh.....
Yesterday was a particularly crazy day and we ended it with ice cream in the car on the way home from VBS. Three kids eating ice cream in the back of the car is kind of scary, but the mood it put everyone in made up for any possible accidental spills. Why does ice cream affect our (my) mood so? I grew up having ice cream long after dinner with my dad quite often. One (of my many) high school jobs was at Baskin Robbins dipping away. My favorites there were, and still are, Daquiri Ice, Burgundy Cherry, Peanut Butter and Chocolate (which I believe Craig ) and Bubblegum. I remember asking for a little cup to spit the bubblegum in as I ate
the ice cream so I could chew it later. Remember the clown cones? They were luscious little upside down ice creams with frosting faces and buttons up their hats. The only thing you could do to improve ice cream is freeze some frosting with it!!!! Heaven! It's fun to see ice cream's affect on kids, and to feel like a kid again too. I'm always amazed at how they can enjoy a moment for what it is, and ice cream puts a big smile on everyone's face. We used to make homemade Orange Sherbet, and now I make it for my family. The recipe is really easy. Just add a can of Eagle Brand Milk to a 2 liter of your favorite soda (orange, grape...) and freeze in your ice cream freezer. Riley has been asking when we are going to do this. I guess I should leave some of our favorite metroplex hot spots for ice cream for you to talk about, honey, but my favorite currently is ColdStone Creamery on Hulen and I-30. Mmmm.....
Thank you for putting little surprises in the freezer for me once in awhile!
