For Crying Out Loud

I try not to pick and complain much...but I am today. I have one simple request. I do not think it is too much to ask. It is something that is fairly easy. Please try to help me out here if possible.

If I come in to your store to purchase gas, a drink, or some gum, please make eye contact with me and speak. A simple THANK YOU might be nice, especially if I say something similar to you. I realize you may have had a long day but a tad bit of customer service will go a long way.

This has been a problem for me lately. Have you had similar experiences or am I asking too much?

I love it when I come into a store to hand them my money and they act like I'm putting them out! I'm thankful for the convenience of pay at the pump and ATM's, but I worry that generations to come will have no social skills whatsoever.

I just wish they would get off the phone or at least not look like I'm disturbing them by making them actually work!!!!!

I dunno... If I worked at one of those places that is often ripped off at gunpoint and you walked in I might not make eye contact either...

Usually that only happens once. I can't stand it either, so I try to go someplace else.

I remember we had a cusomer at the bank (when I was a drive-thru teller about 15 years ago) who would not look at us or speak when we greeted him or told him thank you or good-bye or anything. Once when I was feeling a little punchy and he refused to speak I kept turning up the volume on the speaker and saying thank you over and over and over. He flipped me off and drove away and then later complained to the bank president who later told me about the conversation. "So let me get this straight. You're complaining because our teller was being pleasant?" The president just told me to keep it up in hopes the guy might decide to bank somewhere else.
