A Great Aunt
I will be heading to Memphis tomorrow for the funeral of one of my precious aunts. We received a call on Friday that my Aunt Cyndy was in a very bad traffic accident. She was immediately taken into surgery but her body could not recover. The news has rocked our family.
Her obituary was in the Commercial Appeal today in Memphis:
Hernando - CYNTHIA DYE"GRAMMY" GOURLEY,53, passed away March 21, 2008, after a motor vehicle accident. She is survived by her children, Sunni Thompson of Drummonds, TN, son, Kelan Gourley of Burlison, TN; her mother, Rubye Anglin of Hernando, sisters, Judy Fisher of Ft. Worth, TX, Pam King of Manhattan, KS, and Rowena O'Guin of Lakeland, TN, brothers, Harley Anglin of Olive Branch, MS, Ronnie Anglin of Counce, TN and Mark Anglin of Franklin, TN and her twin grandchildren, Tristan and Kaitlyn Gourley. Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, at Brantley Funeral Home in Olive Branch with burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be sent to St.Jude Children's Research Hospital or Le Bonheur Children's Hospital. Brantley Funeral Home Olive Branch 662-895-2310.
Aunt Cyndy was a special lady. She always loved me and my sister. She made sure that she took a special interest in the things we did and then showed the same interest in Beth Ann and the boys. She was an avid reader of my blog and would keep up with my family and friends through the things I put here. She would call and check on Beth Ann, the boys, my college roommates and things about my work, and other things she had read about. She would make trips to Texas to come see us. We could always talk sports and laugh together. There were always new grandkid stories. Her love was strong. She would have been there for me at any time I needed. She was a special lady and we will miss her greatly. I am honored to go and be a pallbearer at her funeral.
Pray for our family and my mom right now as this has been another tough blow to this family.
To honor Aunt Cyndy, the following are two pictures taken when she came to visit us in Texas a few months ago.

We love you Aunt Cyndy. Thank you for blessing me and my family.
"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." - John 16:33

Sorry for your loss. Sounds like you have had quite a bit of tragedy in a short time. May God strengthen your family and give you peace. (John 14:1-3)
