Christmas and a New Year
It has been a whirlwind holiday season. It has been great. We have enjoyed it but we are tired. We love this time of year as it promotes so much happiness. It can also add much to the normal routine and cause fatigue.
We started out by heading to our house that has not sold in Benbrook. My parents are still there. We gathered with my sister and her family and my parents. We had some great barbeque from Red Hot and Blue, opened presents and had some time to hang out with my family.
The next morning we left for Kansas. We took my dad's truck and borrowed my brother-in-law's trailer. We knew we were potentially driving into some inclement weather but carried on thinking it would be fine. After lunch in Oklahoma City the weather changed. There was a layer of ice and then inches of snow. The winds kicked up to 50 mph and it was whiteout conditions. After seeing hundreds of wrecks and driving at about 15 mph we had to stop in Tonkawa, OK. Yes, Tonkawa, OK. We got one of the last rooms at a motel and I went over to the only gas station and got chips, Slim Jims and donuts for dinner. It was a great way for Owen to celebrate his 4th birthday. We made it to Topeka the next afternoon.
In Kansas we had a super Christmas. Time with Nana and Papa, seeing the Myers, Taco Villa, taking the boys to a hibachi grill for the first time, lots and lots of snow, watching the boys get presents from family and Santa, great Christmas fun.
We then headed home and have spent a few days in Abilene cleaning up Christmas and just being at home.
Glad the holiday season came and ready for a routine to start.
I wish you great 2008.
By the way, my new iPhone rocks!
