Thoughts and something that makes me smile

Adjusting to a new life is easier said than done. There is so much that is new territory. Many parts have gone so well but there are parts of all this newness that is still a challenge.
-----------------------
We placed membership at Highland today. We are excited to be a part of that body. Many great people make up the ministry team and we feel good about joining them.
-----------------------
I have had many people discuss my new job since we moved to Abilene. The tone of a good portion of people has been interesting. Comments like, "Do you realize what you have gotten yourself into?", "Are you really sure you wanted this?", "I wish you luck, you are going to need it."
There is enough pressure in a new position as it is...
-----------------------
Brandon Scott Thomas, Chris Doggett and Stephen Bailey are coming in for Homecoming. It will be a blast to be with that group. Chris is only going to be here for a few hours and will not be able to bring his family. I hope that we can spend some time with them in the near future.
We are going to gather at our new house in Abilene and just reconnect. I am ready for that.
-----------------------
Watched EVAN ALMIGHTY for family movie night. Great movie and the boys loved it. Mike preached on Noah this weekend as well. Noah was a man of few words, just listened to God and then was obedient. Simple lesson, great lesson.
-----------------------
I am reading Grisham's new book, PLAYING FOR PIZZA. So far it is a nice break from the drive of life.
-----------------------
We are heading to Ft. Worth in a few weeks for the NASCAR Busch and Nextel races. Thanks to Judy and Carolyn we are getting tickets for the races again this year. Pumped and ready. Mountain Dew has been a big player in NASCAR for years. Mountain Dew/AMP are the new sponsors for Dale Jr. Ready to get my gear and root on the 88 next season.
-----------------------
I am missing some of those I worked closest to at SCS. They knew me, knew my strengths and weaknesses, we could bounce ideas and discuss the situations that we were in, we could laugh, we could cry, we were co-workers and we were friends. I am blessed to develop those relationships here, as they will continue to grow. Moving away from SCS makes me realize what a special group of people I was around there.
-----------------------
Things have been crazy but this always makes me smile...

    1. Ch-ch-ch-changes...
    2. Welcome aboard! Wanna sing?
    3. Those aren't bad things. They just indicate opportunities and prove you're in the right spot. And that's from an official alum. (Can I get my diploma now?)
    4. Can we stay at your house, too? Remodeling is getting old.
    5. Evan Almighty- a truly miraculous movie. But I'm saying that because Wanda Sykes didn't bug the heck out of me for once.
    6. I'm on chapter 8.
    7. Luckeee. (Say it like Napoleon Dynamite)
    8. I'm sure they miss you, too. Just don't get any ideas. (And that's from an official alum. Any progress on that diploma?)
    9. Aww.
