Sonic
My family loves Sonic. We can go for a little dinner, a snack or just to get a drink. Just about everything they serve, we like. It is a fun stop for us. Sonic does a good job of marketing and providing good customer service. They keep us coming back. Now that the summer months are here, we will be going for cherry limeades, slushes and flavored sodas. For us that seems to be a must during the summer.
I need some help. When it comes to Sonic, are you supposed to tip the carhop or not? If you order a full meal? What if you order just a Route 44? Sometimes I do and sometimes I do not. Please advise me on the proper etiquette of tipping at Sonic.

Yes, you are supposed to tip at Sonic, I forget where I read that. I usually do 10% rather than 20%, though, since they only give you service once (in how they pack and deliver your food.) 10% or a dollar, whichever's higher.

Great question! Thanks for the answer Clarissa. I'm like you Fish, sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. However, if the server is on roller skates I ALWAYS tip.

carhops are supposed to be tipped. BUT for just a Route 44? I think that's pushing it a bit! When we were in the Keller area I like to go to the Sonic on Davis because they had a drive-thru. Surely there is no need to tip at the drive-thru!

I've often said--and Shellie Braddock learned this--that the way to my heart is through a cherry lime slush. Or even better--a cherry limeaid slush. There is simply nothing better. NOTHING.
As for tipping at Sonic... I say go for it. I always do--primarily because I am married to a former server at Olive Garden and have heard how important the tip can be. I figure I don't need that extra little amount nearly as much as they do.

Robin rails on me for being cheap if I don't tip the carhop, so I always do it....when she's in the car (I'm such a doormat!).
